The answer is C. $400
Can someone explain to me how this is the answer, I thought there was a $100 per car limit with a max of $500.

The question is asking how much the policy will pay. There is a $900 claim with a $500 deductible, so the policy will pay $400. I think you just read the question wrong because the information you stated is correct. :)
