Guys,
The truth of the matter is that if you do not memorize the book (it's details), you will not pass the state exam.
The on-line course was a good start to get me to know the terms and get used to the nomenclature. I did not buy any additional study tools, except the book, which I read a lot of times.
Once I got to the exam (165 questions - 150 counted - 165 minutes) and the questions started comming, I realized that it was all about a lot of detailed information. Such as:
- How many hrs of cont. education in ethics are you required to take. Well, if you did not memorize the last chapter where all of that small text is.... you got it wrong.
So, do not expect that the State test will be similar to the on-line course.... And my suggestion is....
Memorize detais. They will ask about extended coverages, additional coverages, specific amounts on coverages that are not the main point of the chapter, and not a lot of def.
Well, it is possible to pass your state exam on the first try, I did it without extra help or flash cards or exam simulator. but if you have those tools, I am sure it will help some.
Good luck to you all.
Hi Vaunita,
I chose to take the 2 weeks prior to the test to read and study the book. I spent about 4 hours a day and read all the chapters over and over again and did the test in the back of the book and went back to take the quizes on this site.
I guess you have to see what is best for you, but in my case I would have gotten very borred having to read the book for such a long time before the test. I studied a lot the 2 weeks before it, but everyone is different.
One advise.... Know the details.
You will have 165 questions (150 will count, but you do not know which ones) and 165 minutes. It is enough time to answer all questions and review the ones you are not sure about. Make sure you do not spend too much time on any one question. if you are not sure, choose an answer (elimitating the ones you know it is wrong is the best way to choose the answer) and mark it to review it later. some questions will repeat itself with different wording and some questions will answer another previously asked, so read them carefully.
Just as a FYI the test for this course is very easy compared to the state exam, so do not base your knowledge on the score you got. Study hard.
good luck!
Hi Samantha,
Congratulation on passing your exam. Which state study manual did you use, the 17th, or the 18th edition, please advise, I'm waiting for my test date now, and I did all my studying in the 17th edition per my college course advisor?
steve
Hi Steve,
I had the 17th edition and it worked fine. There were a few questions in the test from the new book, but not enough to make too much of a difference.
I am sure you will do just fine.
Good luck.
Samantha
