Insurance Licensing and Continuing Education

Jack Rotzien Jack Rotzien, CLU, has been directly involved in designing and delivering insurance training, pre-licensing courses, and continuing professional education courses in Florida for the past 33 years. He is a founding member of OnLine Training, Inc. His commitment to students and his strong desire to aid them in being successful has been a hallmark of all his instructional endeavors. He is the past founder and president of Insurance Systems of Florida which certified over 18,000 pre-licensing students before the school was sold in 1991. Jack entered the insurance business with The John Hancock in 1975. He later became a unit manager and recruiter. During this period Jack started a Life and Health licensing school under the sponsorship of the Palm Beach Chapter of CLU, ChFC. Jack still actively teaches pre-licensing courses for many colleges in Florida through his online courses. He has been active in the Palm Beach Association of Life Underwrites. He is a former officer and board member of the Palm Coast Association of Health Underwriters. He is a past President of the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Jack has been working with OLT since 1998.
 

Jan Bradburn has developed curriculum and taught classes in private schools in Florida for 16 years. She holds a 2-20 General Lines Agent insurance license and currently holds a position as a Training Manager for a major P&C insurer.

She has taught at every grade level including pre-school, elementary, middle and high school, and adult learners, which has helped her gain a better understand of the developmental learning process. After obtaining her license, she began designing and delivering insurance, pre-licensing and continuing education training. She continues to develop curriculum for adult learners in the corporate environment, and she is an online instructor for OnLine Training, Inc.  She holds a B.S. in Developmental Psychology.

Joseph Donovan, ChFC, CLU has been in the insurance industry for the last twenty years and has been an insurance instructor for the last eighteen. He holds a Master of Science degree in Financial Services (MSFS) from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Besides being an insurance CE course provider and instructor he is currently an adjunct professor for Palm Beach Community College in Florida.

Jeffrey King has been a licensed life, health, and general lines agent since 1989.  His professional insurance career began with Prudential Insurance and included several years as an agent for an independent multi-lines agency before opening his own insurance agency.  He is currently President of King Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Mr. King’s instructional career began in 1996 as an Adjunct Instructor for Brevard Community College.  He has taught several college level business classes, including “Intro to Business “and “Business Management”.  Currently, he teaches insurance pre-licensing classes, as well as continuing education classes at Brevard Community College, Polk Community College, and Valencia Community College.

Mr. King received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 1981 and an MBA from University of Central Florida in 1987.  He is currently a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters.  He lives with his wife and son in Cocoa Beach, Florida and in his leisure time enjoys traveling and playing on the beach.

James E. Drake, CPCU, CLU, ARM, has served as Executive Vice President at McKinley Financial Services Inc., for the past fourteen years. He manages all property and casualty functions.  His experience in the insurance industry has included risk management positions with Metropolitan Life, PepsiCo Inc. and Price Communications Corporation.   He was also an executive with E. G. Bowman Co. Inc., a national insurance brokerage.

Jim received a degree in economics from City College, City University of New York and earned a Master in Business Administration degree from Baruch College.  He holds the designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and has been engaged over the years as a certified insurance instructor in various Continuing Education Programs.  Jim has been, in addition, a contributor to industry-related publications, including Rough Notes. A resident of Sunrise in Broward County, he is active in business organizations.
 

Jody Broyles is a native Floridian, yet has also traversed the country, spending several years in the Great Northwest. He has over 25 years experience in writing and teaching curriculum for adult studies as most of his professional life has been devoted to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He thoroughly enjoys research and curriculum design, having authored numerous classroom studies. Besides the ministry, he has also worked as both an independent and captive agent in the insurance industry. He has been very happily married for 27 years and has been active in supporting athletics as all of his sons played both high school and college basketball. Jody holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies.
Lindy Markham is the South Florida Sales Manager for the Reverse Mortgage Division of Bank of America. She has been in the reverse mortgage business since 2003, and has won several awards for her expertise in her field. Prior to this, she was a Reverse Mortgage Consultant with Countrywide Bank. She has also worked in aviation for Pan Am, designed custom audio-visual systems for Bose, restored historic homes, and has run political campaigns. In addition to her career as a loan consultant, Ms. Markham is a member of the Gold Coast Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, and has spoken on panels on the value of reverse mortgages in the overall retirement planning of CFP’s for their clients. She also is a Certified Senior Advisor®, the chair of the Palm Beach County chapter for the American Senior Planning Alliance, a non-profit educational resource for seniors in Florida, and presents educational seminars on reverse mortgages around the county.

Michael R. Teller, CLTC, CSA is the founder and president of All Vest Associates. Specializing in long-term care planning for nearly two decades, Michael helps financial professionals and their clients better understand this risk and secure the proper protection.  

Mr. Teller graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance. He is “Certified in Long Term Care” by the Corporation for Long Term Care Certification and is a Certified Senior Advisor.

Michael is an approved continuing education instructor in the State of Florida for insurance agents and Certified Public Accountants, on the subject Long Term Care Insurance, and the state LTC Partnership Program.

Irv Wiese, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF is the head of OLT South Carolina and the South Carolina Instructor of Record.  Mr. Wiese has a BS in Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.  He is Past-President of the NAIFA-SC, NAIFA-Columbia, and Central South Carolina Chapter of CLU & ChFC.  

Mr. Wiese currently holds the following licenses: Life, Accident and Health, Property and Casualty, Series 6, Series 63 and Series 22.  He has taught numerous LUTC courses on insurance planning, retirement planning, long term care insurance, disability insurance and estate planning.  In 1996 he formed MW Group Education Services to instruct insurance continuing education and prelicensing training.  

Mr. Wiese has been with OLT since 2006.

Patricia M. Conte, CFP CLU CHFC - Pat Conte provides leadership in the prelicensing and continuing education of Insurance Agents. She is the developer and on-line instructor for many courses. Over the years, hundreds of people have benefited from her knowledge and experience as she has helped them develop and implement strategies to meet their objectives.

Before becoming a Financial Planner, Pat spent many years as a manager with IBM where her responsibilities focused on developing and providing product education and support – both in the classroom and on-line.

Students find that her knowledge and empathy, coupled with value-added service, creates an environment of trust and confidence, allowing them to identify their goals and then develop strategies to achieve them.

She works with people who want more control over their professional life, often with adults changing their careers. The circumstances of her students change, but the study plans she helps them develop are realistic and able to fit into their lifestyle; so not only does the plan get implemented, the student successfully achieves the education necessary to pass the exam needed to be licensed.

Pat has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. She also holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and the Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC) designations. She is a past president of Women in Insurance in Insurance & Financial Services (WIFS). Pat is also a member of the local chapters of the Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and Society of Financial Service Professionals.. Pat continually keeps herself informed about changes taking place in the industry and is able to help put them in context.

Pat lives in Lake Clarke Shores, Florida where she is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
